It’s that time of year again, where everyone gets into the Holiday spirit. For us here at Base Commerce, that means that we embrace the spirit of giving back. With our hearts full and our employees ready to give, we began our Food Drive journey. We decided to choose St. Mary’s Food Bank Alliance, and they provided us with boxes to collect non-perishable food items for the families of Arizona. All items collected will go to local families, ensuring that one less family will go hungry this Holiday season.
Money 20/20 is the event of the year, where hundreds of businesses and thousands of people gather in Las Vegas to discuss ideas, build connections, and negotiate new relationships within the Payments and Financial Services industries.
As members of the Western States Acquirers Association (WSAA), we are honored to receive yet another invitation to attend the WSAA annual conference. This year, the event will be in Rancho Mirage, CA, a short road trip from our Tempe office.
Base Commerce is elated to announce the addition of Vice President and General Counsel, Brian McQuaid. Brian comes to us with over 18 years of litigation and counsel experience, with specific focus on complex contract negotiations, regulatory compliance, and accounting. The decision to add General Counsel to our company complements our focus on providing secure and unique payment processing solutions to a range of different verticals. The growth of the company has brought forth new opportunities, and having a top talent like McQuaid on the team will only enhance the business and secure future scalability.
We are eager to continue expanding, and to provide secure opportunities that will allow us all to benefit.
As a company, we are always looking for ways to give back to our local community, so it does not surprise us when our employees take that into their own hands and volunteer on their own time. Recently, 25% of our company volunteered packaging food for the Feed My Starving Children nonprofit organization that specializes in providing nutrition-packed meals to malnourished families all over the world.
Base Commerce is excited to announce that we will be attending ETA’s Transact 2017 this year in the beautiful Las Vegas, NV. ETA has always been a show that we have found success in attending. Whether it be meeting new potential business relationships or connecting with old industry friends and partners, ETA has never let us down. This year should be no different, as we are looking forward to expanding our network for more opportunities in exciting new verticals.
We love this time of year, as there are so many conventions, conferences, expos, and learning opportunities on larger scales that we enjoy participating in. Next up on the agenda is to attend NACHA Faster Payments 2017. We are looking forward to the opportunity to meet with our bank partners, and to expand our knowledge base on the ever-changing ACH industry.
This year, 2017, has a lot of excitement in store for Base Commerce. We are really looking forward to attending the Merchant Acquirers Committee (MAC) Annual Conference this year in Las Vegas, Nevada. This conference is one of our favorites, as the setting is perfect for learning and networking. The MAC Conference offers the best industry knowledge for card processing from a risk management perspective, as well as keeping everyone up to date on the rules changes.
Let’s talk Shop…or ShopTalk, rather. We are pleased to announce that Base Commerce will be attending this year’s ShopTalk conference. In the past, we have seen great success with Money2020 and ETA’s Transact, but Shop Talk will open more lines of communication and networking opportunities with more of the ISV and startup verticals. We are really looking forward to being more engaged with these crowds, as we pride ourselves in our history with working with startups.
Did you know that Base Commerce now offers Sunday Processing? We at Base Commerce are constantly driven to improve upon existing processes within the payment space, and are often using our eager ingenuity to create and enhance products that are easy to use, convenient, and with the thought of our partner’s and merchants’ needs in mind. With our existing ODFI relationships, we can now offer Sunday Processing. This allows us to send your batches to the Federal Reserve a day earlier, meaning you will get paid a day earlier, too.
The National Automated Clearing House Association (NACHA) has adopted a new rule that will provide the capability for moving “same-day” payments through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network. ACH has been notorious for taking a little longer to process and traditionally settled earliest on the next business day. Now, not only can our customers and partners send their ACH payments for same-day settlement, but Base Commerce can now fund our merchants the same-day that they batch out.
